As the world gets increasingly

Overwhelming

Radical

Polarized

Tense

Frightening

The future sounding scary

and fears of death

Destruction

Rising, rising, rising

I find myself at times getting sucked

into spirals and darkness

Heavy thoughts and feelings

Until I change the focus

From me and my pain

My happiness, survival, comfort, purpose

From worrying about my loved ones

To those around me

Who are truly struggling

Suffering right now

Even to eat

And even though I am no longer religious

This bible verse comes to mind

"Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

And the more I actually do that

Beyond mental ideas

Beyond beliefs

Beyond trying

The anxiety melts away in the doing.

And what remains is

Growing Freedom

Growing Joy

Growing Love

Growing Hope.
